O anuncio do reality primeiro gerou polêmica com os fãs do Little Mix, já que a banda recentemente anunciou um reality similar.
Depois disso, ainda, no vídeo em que Simon anuncia o reality ele diz que “Atualmente, o K-Pop está dominando o mundo. Agora, é hora de UKPop” o que fez com que os fãs de K-Pop se revoltasse.
