Taylor Swift, Fun, e Marron 5 foram os finalistas com mais indicações no Billboard Music Awards 2013, que acontecerá ao vivo no domingo, 19 de Maio no MGM Grand Garden Arena, em Los Angeles, e que será transmitido pelo ABC,
Embora todos os três artistas sejam finalistas entre 45 categorias deste ano, Swift e Maroon 5 também irão competir pelo cobiçado prêmio de “Top Artists” na cerimônia deste ano. Swift está saindo de mais um ano de sucesso em que seu álbum “Red” marcou a maior venda na semana de estreia de qualquer álbum em 2013, enquanto Maroon 5 adicionou mais acessos ao seu arsenal com canções como “Payphone”, “One More Night” e “Daylight”. Fun, que marcou seu primeiro single numero um com o hino “We Are Young”, vai lutar nas categorias “Top Hot 100” e “Top Due/Group”, entre outros.
Depois de ser indicada em 18 categorias em 2011 e mais 13 em 2012, a superstar Rihanna mais uma vez está entre os finalistas, competindo em 10 categorias este ano, incluindo “Top Artists”. Enquanto isso a cantora Carly Rae Jepsen – marcada pela canção de verão “Call Me Maybe” – está indicada em nove 9 categorias este ano. Incluindo “Top Hot 100 Songs”, “Top Pop Song”, “Top Digital Song” e “Top Radio Song”.
E não se esqueçam do One Direction, que lançou dois álbuns nos EUA em 2012 e acumulou 8 indicações do BBMAs 2013. 1D vai competir contra Swift, Maroon 5, Rihanna e Justin Bieber na categoria “Top Artist”, e a boyband também estará concorrendo com Jepsen, Gotye, PSY, e The Lumineers no “Top New Artist”.
Também digno de nota em 2013: a adição de categorias de EDM no Billboard Music Awards, que reflete a grande demanda para a música eletrônica. David Guetta, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia e Deadmau5 vai concorrer ao “Top EDM Album”, enquanto finalistas do “Top EDM Song” incluem Baauer com “Harlem Shake”, Calvin Harris com “Feel So Close”, e Swedish House Mafia com “Don’t You Worry Child”
Os finalistas do Billboard Music Awards foram baseados em interações dos fãs, incluindo álbum e vendas de singles digitais, rádios, turnês, streaming e interações sociais no Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, VEVO, Spotify e outros destinos online mais populares para a música. Estas medidas foram monitoradas durante todo o ano pela Billboard e seus parceiros, incluindo dados da Nielsen Entertainment e Big Sound.
